Homemade Foaming Facial Cleanser

This easy to make foaming cleanser is very gentle and can be tailored to suit most skin types.

Apple juice is rich in antioxidants. Naturally occurring acids in the juice help to gently remove dead skin cells.

German (or Blue) Chamomile essential oil is often used for treating inflamed or sensitive skin,

Carrot seed essential oil can help to restore elasticity to sensitive or sun damaged skin (see note below before using this oil).

Green clay acts as a very gentle exfoliant and works well with irritated skin.

White clay is suitable for use if you have sensitive, mature or damaged skin. It should not be used if you have dry skin.

Foaming Cleanser

4 tablespoons organic apple juice
25g green or white clay
10 drops carrot seed essential oil (see note)

Combine the apple juice and the soap. Stir gently so you don't get too many bubbles. Next whisk in the clay (again gently). Add the essential oils and stir to combine.

To use massage into the face. Rinse with warm water.

Stored in the fridge the cleanser will keep for one month.

A note on using carrot seed essential oil. Do not use this oil if pregnant. Geranium essential oil can be substituted. Geranium oil works well for mature, combination or sunburnt skin.
